It was announced from the pulpit at St. Cecilia Church at the end of 5pm Mass last Saturday that Rev. Mark Taheny '74 has been named by the Archbishop as the new pastor of St. Cecilia Church, effective July 1, 2017, upon the long-planned retirement of the current pastor, Monsignor Michael Harriman. Fr. Mark has served in several parishes, including St. Sebastian's in Greenbrae where he has been pastor for the last 9 years. Prior to SI, he graduated from St. Brendan's School. He is one of nine siblings, and has 20 nieces/nephews and a dozen or so grandnieces/grandnephews—many of whom have been active at SI during their high school years. Two of his uncles were long-time Jesuits: Fr. Theodore Taheny, SJ '43 (1925-2011) and Fr. Robert Taheny, SJ '44 (1926-2014). (Thanks to Frank Dunnigan '70 for sending this in.)
